Other limits
- At 100 the pitcher may finish the current batter only, and cannot start another inning.
- Limit is a daily total; a pitcher may pitch both games of a doubleheader if the combined total stays within 100.
- Rest is counted in calendar days, not 24-hour periods.
- All teams at all levels keep a pitch count log; warm-ups do not count; intentional walks count only if pitches are thrown; balks are not pitches.
- Applies even if a game is ended by the umpire before it becomes official.
- Counts reviewed each complete inning; with a recorder, majority of three counts is official; otherwise the home counter's count.
- WIAA members follow WIAA rules in out-of-state games.
- Officials do not enforce; schools report violations to WIAA. Violations are treated as using an ineligible player; minimum penalty is forfeiture of the game.

The calculator above is set to Wisconsin. Enter the pitches thrown and the day, and it shows the rest required and the first day the pitcher can throw again.
How to read the rule
Rest is counted in calendar days, after the day the pitcher threw. On the High school (all levels) table, a pitcher who throws 63 pitches on a Tuesday needs 2 calendar days of rest, so the first day they can pitch again is Friday. The most rest any Wisconsin table requires is 4 days.
More than one table
Wisconsin doesn’t use one table for everyone. High school (all levels): up to 100 pitches a day, 76+ pitches means 3 calendar days of rest. Middle school (ages 13-14): up to 95 pitches a day, 66+ pitches means 4 calendar days of rest. Middle school (ages 11-12): up to 85 pitches a day, 66+ pitches means 4 calendar days of rest. Pick the one that fits in the calculator; all 3 are printed below it.
Where the rule comes from
These numbers are from the association’s own document: WIAA Season Regulations - Spring 2026 Boys Baseball, read as the WIAA Spring 2026 Season Regulations. Associations can change their rules between seasons, so if the season is about to start, check the association’s current baseball manual too. Your league or tournament may also set stricter limits than the state.
Keeping the count is usually the coaches’ job, often with both teams’ counts compared after the game. The pitch count log has a line for every pitcher and game.
